|
|
If you are from a low income background and believe you have the ability and the motivation to complete a university course, we want to encourage you to think positively about applying at QUT. Q-Step may be able to provide assistance to enable you to find your way into a QUT undergraduate degree course and your chosen career. Q-Step applies to full-time, part-time and external undergraduate degree courses offered at QUT; excluding Dean’s Scholars, and Creative Industries courses which require an audition, portfolio or interview. Who is eligible?Youth Allowance/Austudy, Newstart, Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment, Carer's Payment, Aged Pension or low wage are normally accepted as indicators of eligibility; however, all applications are assessed on their individual circumstances. People who have completed, or are completing, a year or more of post secondary study are not eligible to apply. This includes study at TAFE diploma level or university studies. However, if an applicant has completed up to year of post secondary study and can detail in writing how their financial circumstances have impacted on their overall grades, they may still be eligible. How do you apply?
Then what?Applications are assessed by the Q-Step team. You will receive a letter notifying you of your eligibility for the Q-Step Program. A bonus of up to three OP bands or six Ranks may be given to those eligible applicants. If you are successful in obtaining a QUT place, you are encouraged to attend the Q-Step Orientation Program to help you get started at University. Finally, you are on your way to achieving your qualification and the career you really want. |
